It All Started With A Coffee Tumbler
And why it is connected to one of the challenges. Day 17 of the #30DaysWritingChallenge. I am so looking forward to write this.
There are ways to win my heart and the picture below is one of it. Well coffee for example are already a part of my life since I was in…the junior high. Yes, my mum introduced me with this caffeine-laden black substance back then. Well, it was more of an instant coffee, but I still remember the bitterness that kind of washed away with the addition of sugar in it. I don’t know, that just lingered in my mouth for a long time, maybe because it was that strong.
“…coffee just gives you the fuel and the starting point to be a little bit more energetic and can give you that little push at the end of the workout.”
Talking about bitterness, well it sort of wakes you up, doesn’t it? I mean, I really like spicy food and coffee just does the job very well to rinse off the spices in your mouth. At this point, either I am addicted to the coffee, or maybe to the caffeine, but the latter doesn’t affect me that much, though, since I would probably function without it as well. It’s just the habit that already builds up.
Even if I am just staying at home that day (which is my favourite, since I don’t go out that much these days), at least I’ll make a cup for myself. Sometimes if I’m feeling splurged-ish, I can brew one more several hours later. Or maybe during watching a movie I’ll just have a cup of it in hand. I’m not that addicted though, but I can drink 2–3 cups daily.
Coffee is actually a conversation-starter as well. You know, interesting stories begin with a cup of coffee (or whatever you think you like, though. I won’t judge) and I really also like to just sit and talk with somebody about anything. Even if I don’t really get the grasp of the topic, at least I’m trying to be a good listener. Podcast culture nowadays, especially in Indonesia, probably will involve a cup or two to capture those exchanging words.
I also really like sports (unfortunately COVID-19 just limits the possibilities of having a high-intensity sport right now) and coffee just gives you the fuel and the starting point to be a little bit more energetic and can give you that little push at the end of the workout. Badminton in particular, where I always drink a cup before the game/the training. I am not a pro athlete or whatsoever, but knowing there’s a benefit of taking a caffeine-laden beverage before the workout just reassures me.
And on top of it, when you give me that tumbler that night, you just won my heart already. I am so grateful for that.
